Mexico

Sexual health resources for people living or traveling in Mexico. General information, not medical or legal advice.

In short: Contraception is very accessible in Mexico — most methods, including the daily pill and the morning-after pill, are sold over the counter at pharmacies without a prescription, and they are relatively inexpensive. Abortion has been decriminalized at the federal level (2023) and is legal in a growing majority of states, but the rules and how easy it is to actually get care still vary by state. Pharmacies (farmacias) are everywhere and are the front line for contraception; some have an attached doctor's office (consultorio) for quick, cheap consultations.
